Perfect for Beginners in Violin and other "C" instruments

This fake book has all of your favorite hymns in the key of "C", with easy-to-read large music notation, simplified chords and includes all of the verses for sing along. It is perfect for beginners and has a binding that will lay flat on the music stand. All the well-known verses (including multiple) are included under the notes. Finally, unlike other fakebooks that try to crowd several songs together in one page, or split them between pages, this book fits one song per page with large readable type.

What a great song book!!!

I love this Easy Hymn Fake Book and the Easy Gospel Fake Book both. Wish I'd have had some like it many years ago! They make playing so much easier. Piano or guitar! I even bought some extra for my new chord-style piano students. The large bold print is easy for my old eyes to read. I'm also impressed by the great chord selections and placements, just how my ear likes to hear the old songs of the Lord.

Loving it!

I knew there had to be an easier way to play piano. I'll never be a concert pianist, but I am able to enjoy playing for my own enjoyment. With the vocal training I have had, and an explanation of chords, I am able to play the old hymns I grew up with. This is easy and fun.

Sadly, history has left us few classical martial texts. Due partly to the Chinese scholar class’ disdain for all things physically demanding, there were few literate warriors to preserve the martial techniques of antiquity in ‘songs’. This, compounded with constant upheaval, and the passing of time have left us with very few extant historical texts on Chinese sword such as ‘Fundamentals of the Wudang Sword Method’. This makes accurately translating such writings quite the daunting task.

Fortunately, we now have this work from one such ‘literate warrior’. While there are translations of sword manuals, very few are by those who have ‘walked the walk’. Rodell Laoshi’s teachings and influence can be seen the world over and is arguably responsible for the renaissance of historical Chinese sword combat training. Rarely does a martial author surface that possesses such a comprehensive understanding of the actual techniques presented in a classical work prior to translating it.

Social upheaval, sophisticated arts, and why swords are relevant

The author/translator, Scott M. Rodell, is a present-day expert on the usage and history of traditional Chinese swords and other related arms, as well as the full martial curriculum of Yang Taijiquan (Tai Chi). Many students seek him out specifically for this expertise and he regularly tours internationally to teach sword-work and Yang Taijiquan seminars. Comprehensive traditional martial arts schools of any kind are uncommon today—especially such schools teaching Taijiquan. Specifically within the Yang lineages of Taijiquan, the number of world-wide schools with authentic lineage with a full-contact and valid martial system are exceedingly rare.

An even more dire situation confronts traditional, authentic Chinese sword knowledge. If Taijiquan is endangered of soon disappearing as a properly maintained martial tradition, historical Chinese swordsmanship is already on its death-bed, perhaps to disappear forever in the coming generation. Hence Rodell’s significant role here as a living source on a subject nearly forgotten to modernity. Naturally this loss of sword experts has been compounded by recent generations left with no deep understanding of realistic swordplay dynamics, the often misunderstood context of the weapon's usage within Chinese and greater history, and (perhaps most dangerous of all) a chaotic, overwhelming modern information age without any enforced quality standards of knowledge.

It's worth considering whether our potentially fractious oncoming era has analogous or parallel resonance with the turbulent socio-political backdrop of early 20th century China, where began the ambitious military career of sword master Li Jinglin. Li’s verses on Chinese swordsmanship study and development are the focus of Rodell's translation and commentary. There's poignancy here given sword's precarious historical preservation in both eras. The historical backdrop is fascinating, though it's the collaboration of his brisk sword verses in context with Scott M. Rodell's expanded commentary which adequately conveys Li's sometimes terse instructions across disparate time periods.

It offers significant value for students of martial arts with internal work, by demonstrating how to re-apply serious internal development to further progress by sword training, and also ought to help in the modern lack of knowledge regarding sword arts. A gold mine of insights into historical swordsmanship

This new book by Scott M. Rodell is a gold mine of insights into historical swordsmanship. Rodell's expert translations are based on over 30 years of practical sword experience. My favorite is the sequence of training, where he talks about the different steps required for solo practice first and and sword play second. This book does not contain specific sword techniques, I recommend also getting his other book, "Chinese Swordsmanship," which is an encyclopedia of techniques and forms for both the public and Michuan Taiji sword systems.

Good book for ID students

This is a quality book for interior design student looking to understand the construction of furniture and what the price point of a custom piece should be. Natale does an excellent job of utilizing text and pictures to educate the reader. My only complaint is the layout of the page numbers- when flipping through the book you have no idea what page you are on- makes a normally quick task time consuming.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover-Unfulfilled Promises

The cover on this book is very seductive - it promises to put the reader on the cutting edge of design. Holding the book is your first indication: it's flimsey and feels like it will fall apart with too many openings. The book contains line drawing after line drawing punctuated with a few black and white photographs that are so hard to see, they add no value; and there are no color photographs.

The information contained in this book is not new, not newly presented, not newly discussed. The content is widely available on the Internet or easily purchased in a book for 1/4 the cost. You do learn how some furniture is built and about how joints are designed, all superficially-not in a way that would help you actually complete a joint in your own shop or garage. The learning in the book could be done with a walk through an antique furniture shop.

If you think you're interested in this book, I suggest you go to the library first and look at it. This book was an expensive disappointment. But the cover is cool.

Great ending.

Very compelling story from a Christian standpoint. Scripture is used through out the book as a lead in to chapters as well as explaining sections of the story. Great ending.

LINDSEY'S FIRST (AND, TO DATE ONLY) NOVEL

Harold Lee "Hal" Lindsey (born 1929) is a best-selling author, who is currently host of "The Hal Lindsey Report" TV program. (He formerly hosted International Intelligence Briefing on TBN, but the show was removed as being too "pro-Israel"/"anti-Arab"; he provides the financing for the Hal Lindsey Report himself.) Controversially, he has divorced three times and married four times. (His second wife, Jan, was the best-known, as she was featured on the back cover of his earlier books.) He has written many other books, including The Late Great Planet Earth; There's a New World Coming; The 1980s: Countdown to Armageddon; The Rapture; Planet Earth, 2000 A. D.; The Final Battle; Apocalypse Code; Planet Earth: The Final Chapter; Vanished Into Thin Air; The Everlasting Hatred: The Roots of Jihad, etc.

He wrote in the Introduction to this 1996 novel, "you might ask, 'Hal, why have you now decided to venture into the medium of fiction? Why have you chosen to write a novel about what the Bible refers to as 'the last days' rather than another non-fiction book?' ... First of all, let me say that my nonfiction writing days are not over. I have not given up that principal mission. I intend to write more books about current events and their relationship to the prophetic scenario. There is still a great deal of unexplored, uncharted territory, and I fully intend to continue to break new ground in the non-fiction realm for as long as the Lord allows. What I have tried to do in my previous books is simply to illustrate how major prophetic events are being fulfilled before our very eyes... we see evidence of them unfolding more quietly in secret meetings in the world's major power centers. I have shied away, therefore, from date-setting and overly dogmatic analysis. Rather, I have drawn attention to events and trends that might be obscured by the secular media, and I have placed them in the contet or prophetic progression." (Pg. 2)

In the first chapter, "The Everlasting Enmity," the narrator says, "But Isaac and Ishmael never reconciled their differences. They never settled the blood feud that began in the tents of their father Abraham. Thus, the resentment between the descendants of Isaac and the descendants of Ishmael has carried down through the ages. Esau's descendants also joined with Ishmael's in this deadly feud for the past 40 centuries. Ishmael's people hate Isaac's people. Isaac's people distrust Ishmael's people. No ethnic conflict in the world can compare with this one in terms of duration and intensity of animosity." (Pg. 28)

One character speculates about the Rapture: "his Mom and sister---had vanished one day two years earlier along with several million others worldwide. Armstrong never did like the official explanations of those mass disappearances. Some officials suggested that space aliens had pulled off a mass abduction. After all, millions of individuals worldwide had previously claimed to have experienced a form of abduction... Others had a more spiritual explanation, blaming it on a 'harmonic convergence'---a natural function of the earth cleansing itself of the unwanted and undesirable elements that were holding back progress. New Age prophets had predicted such a phenomenon for years." (Pg. 66-67)

The narrator observes, "There had been a mystical prophecy given the children of Fatima that predicted the second pope after John Paul II would be aligned with the Anti-Christ. John Paul II, who was probably a true believer, also predicted the same thing, along with a famous Jesuit author named Malachai (sic) Martin." (Pg. 95) One of the characters recalls, "My mother made me read a frayed old book from the 1970s called 'The Late Great Planet Earth.' I thought the author, named Lindsey, was a total nut case at the time. But most of what he interpreted from the Hebrew prophets is now coming true." (Pg. 252) Even after Jesus has returned to Earth, "Jesus told the people of the earth to continue to study their Bibles. Even though ninety-nine percent of the prophecies had been fulfilled, there were still vital lessons to be learned in order to avoid sin and the trap of a lazy faith." (Pg. 339-340)

Lindsey is less engaging as a novelist than, say, Jerry Jenkins in the "Left Behind" series; on the other hand, his nonfiction books are certainly much more detailed than those of, say, Tim LaHaye, and this greater depth shows. If you like Christian apocalyptic fiction, you'll probably like this book well enough.

Plausible and Bizarre

Although this is a premier work in the area of fiction for the author, Hal Lindsey did manage to place me on the stage of fear in his novel. The third person style narrative was unexpected and so was the love story interwoven in this period of the greatest world war ever to be known. He did have some insights and I look forward to more of this kind of work
