Too bad, because this is a helpful resource

The Kindle version of this book that I purchased contains ONLY the first six chapters of the book. There are four chapters in my print version that are not included in the Kindle volume. The missing chapters contain significant materials. Too bad, because this is a helpful resource.

WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR SALVATION, YOU MUST BE ABSOLUTELY SURE

H.A. Ironside has a wonderful way of making things so simple, after all why should it be a great mystery concerning our "Full Assurance" Chapter by chapter you will catch yourself saying things such as "Now I get it" or "Boy, what a relief" and of course "THANK YOU JESUS!" The last section answers some common questions people have asked Dr. Ironside through out his ministry and you just might find one in there that has been on your mind too. This little book is so enlightening I've read it about three times myself, used the illustrations in my own teachings and honestly have given about thirty copies to friends and family. The late Harry Ironside may not preach any new sermons but I'm sure that this classic will revive your soul so that you will say of your own assurance "I am sure!"

best book on assurance ever written

H.A Ironside was traveling evangelist at the turn of the last century, he later went on to pastor the Moody Memorial Church in Chigago (D.L Moody's church). This book is written in the context of his years as an iternerate evangelist. Ironside years of dealing with the doubts of anxious souls, and understanding how the devil attempts to keep people in doubt has resulted in the timeless truths in this book. Truly, Ironside is still reaping reward in heaven for this wonderful little easy read. One day in heaven, I will give him a big hug for this book.

The Song Continues is an updated version of Horne's earlier My Life. Much of the text is the same. Even so, we needed an update, didn't we? For having a kind of "take no prisoners" style, Horne is pretty generous with foes as well as friends. (She doesn't re-tell the Sills/Scala incident here.) There are some new pictures, which is wonderful. Even more wonderful, and almost worth the purchase price all on its own, is the bonus CD. There are 18 songs on the CD. While they don't come up in chronological order, they are generally arranged earlier to later; you can still get the feeling for how that miraculous instrument evolved. I'm glad I have both books.

General Horne came, sang, and conquered

I'm listening to the CD that came with this book as I write my review. It contains rare live recordings of Marilyn Horne singing all over the fach from a 1963 'Traviata' (with Jan Peerce) of her early 'lirico spinto' days to the darker trouser-role of Arsace in "Semiramide," including an excerpt ("Und ist kein Betrug") from the part that brought her to the attention of the world: Marie in "Wozzeck."

I had read the original version of her ghosted biography, "Marilyn Horne: My Life," (1983) and I wondered if she would repeat the controversial blow-by-blow of her master class with Lotte Lehmann--yes, it's in "The Song Continues," too, where Lehmann blasts Horne for her bad German. In Lehmann's obituary, Martin Bernheimer ("Los Angeles Times:" September 5, 1976) speaks of the German soprano's master classes: "She commanded the stage, even in a classroom, with uncanny force. She was not particularly flexible, however, when it came to developing and encouraging an interpretation that might have conflicted with her own."

I think it was inevitable that these two strong-willed singers would clash. Marilyn didn't get her nickname, 'General Horne' just from the military trouser-roles she played. Her biography refers to her as "one of the few singers ever who could be both charmingly unaffected and magisterial." Most operatic biographies are repetitions of the theme, 'I came, I sang, I got rave reviews' but Marilyn Horne is a real human being in this book--warts, marital woes, and all. She manages to balance the 'General' with something her father once told her: "Whenever you think that you are getting too big for the people around you, remember all that separates you from the guy sitting next to you is a little piece of gristle in your throat."

She has been called "probably the greatest singer in the world" (Opera News, 1981). She is, without a doubt, one of the great 20th century mezzo-sopranos and one of 'the' Rossini interpreters of our time. She sang and recorded for over 40 years, partnering with three generations of 'Semiramides' in her illustrious career: Joan Sutherland; Montserrat Caballé; and June Anderson. Her instrument is powerful, agile, beautiful, and secure in every register. Just like a Stradivarius, she has a unique, opulent voice (one of my favorite opera authors accuses her of concealing a trombone in her chest). If you'd like to hear her sing before you purchase this biography, she has an extensive discography. Two of my own favorites are the Scimone "L'Italiana in Algeri" (Erato - 1980) and the famous 1980 Aix-en-Provence live performance of "Semiramide" with Montserrat Caballé and Samuel Ramey. The latter has all of the problems you might expect from the recording of a live performance, but my god, the singing!

The Mezzo Soprano American Diva In Her Own Words

Mezzo-sopranos are not the leading ladies in opera, the soprano is, but American-born Marilyn Horne became as big a star as any dramatic soprano diva. Her career span the 60's, 70's and 80's, she sang in all the leading opera houses- Met, Covent Garden, La Scala, etc and was an artist who upheld the most consummate musicianship. Her voice was not as dark or deep as say the voices of such mezzos as Giuletta Simionato, Fiorenza Cossotto, Grace Bumbry and Shirley Verrett. Hers was a voice that had a brassy, dramatic ring to it though she was clearly in her element as Rossini heroines- Neocle in Semiramide, Rosina in Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola - and she sang Carmen and Adalgisa in Norma opposite Joan Sutherland. She sang trouser roles like Cherubino. Not being in the spotlight was at first a struggle for Horne, but she overcame this by her dedication and sheer vocal artistry. Her voice is beautiful and BIG, a mezzo with lyric bravura and coloratura to boot. In her candid autobiography, she is warm and frank about all details of her career and her life. Marilyn Horne is still a very loved American singer and any mezzo-soprano who wants to win fame and not remain simply a mezzo can benefit immensely from this book.

Are you a ghost or a machine? You don’t need to be a superstitious believer to support the side of the ghosts. In this book, we will show that the ghost side has two faces: Mythos and Logos. The Mythos version of ghosts is laughably silly ... just read the Torah, Bible or Koran to discover how preposterous and irrational it is. The Logos version, on the other hand, is the most rational position you can possibly arrive at, that of hyperrationality, expressed through pure, ontological, monadic mathematics.

For people with a machine mentality (scientists and atheists), everything is about visible objects, and the denial of any invisible reality. For all religious and spiritual people, there’s more to existence than merely what appears to us. There are invisible things – such as souls – and invisible, mental forces, beyond the reach of any scientific experiment, but, crucially, not beyond the reach of reason, logic and mathematics.

Machine people reduce everything to lifeless, mindless, purposeless atoms of matter: the ultimate little machines. For “ghost” people, reality reduces to dimensionless, mathematical singularities, which are none other than the hyperrational monadic souls posited by Pythagoras and Leibniz.

Ghost people subscribe to atoms (minds) with atomic number zero, i.e. minds/souls are made of massless, dimensionless photons. Machine people start with hydrogen atoms, with atomic number one.

All “ghost” entities are associated with zero and infinity. All machine people deny the existence of zero and infinity. Mathematically, these are the two numbers where the ghosts and the machines collide head on. For ghost people, everything begins with zero and infinity, the two numbers that destroy scientific materialism. For machine people, machines randomly magic themselves into existence from non-existence, for no reason and via no mechanism since this is the only way to avoid admitting that an eternal, rational, mathematical order of zero and infinity rules the universe.

This book is all about demonstrating that there are indeed ghosts in the machines – something that science routinely laughs at – and, therefore, that science is completely wrong in all of its claims about ultimate reality. Science is false exactly because it ignores the invisible ghosts – minds/souls – that animate the universe. These “ghosts” aren’t ridiculous Mythos things of religious superstition. They are mathematical Logos entities. They are dimensionless, unextended, immaterial, autonomous Fourier frequency domains (singularities).

Math, not religion, is what refutes science. Math is the ghost that haunts science. Math is what science has never understood, just as it has never understood mind. In fact, these two facts are one and the same: math is mind!

All genuine intellectuals want to take down scientific materialism, to burst its bubble, to expose it as nothing but an elaborate heuristic fiction that’s utterly bankrupt as far as telling us anything about ultimate reality goes. Science is the Great Lie that must be overturned. It has replaced religion as the immense fraud that all intelligent human beings must resist and expose.

Join The War Against The Machines

If you haven’t been reading the books written by Mike Hockney, Adam Weishaupt, or Michael Faust, then you may be asking yourself how, exactly, you ended up here on Amazon looking at this curious book called: “The War of the Ghosts and the Machines”. Perhaps you arrived here because of the books subtly provocative name, or maybe it was the amazing artwork on the cover that spiked your curiosity. Whatever the case may be, you’re probably wondering what this book is all about. My goal, in writing this short essay, is to provide you with an inkling of what you’re in store for when you begin reading these amazing books.

The first thing you’ll notice is that this book is but a single component of a vast (28 book and counting) book series titled: “The God Series”. The core, fundamental premise laid out in this book series is that the universe, and absolutely everything in it, is 100% math. This is the exact reason why our contemporary mainstream scientific materialists use mathematics ALL of the time in their many failed attempts to describe the universe to us.

There is a simple reason why the scientific materialists of our day have been unable to provide the public with a Grand Unified Theory of Everything, and that reason is the second core premise of “The God Series”. The second profound premise is that mathematics (i.e. the universe and everything in it) is inextricably linked with a precise way of thinking; a precise way of understanding what it is that all of the equations, functions, and numbers of mathematics are Truly telling us about reality. This precise way of thinking, this philosophy of mathematics, was known throughout history as rationalism/idealism, but an even more powerful, modern name for mathematical thinking is given to us by the authors of “The God Series”; this name is hyperrationalism.

Hyperrationalism takes all of the previous thoughts, concepts, and systems of traditional rationalistic/idealistic philosophy and winnows away all of the inconsistencies and contradictions within them, leaving behind pure mathematical reason; pure Truth. Hypperationalism is exactly why scientific materialists can’t figure out what is going on in the universe, they’re simply using the wrong way of thinking, the wrong philosophy to understand the mathematical universe. Our contemporary scientists use the philosophy of materialism/empiricism to understand the universe. Materialism and empiricism are emphatically not the way to understand the Truth of mathematics and hence the Truth of the universe. Until scientists embrace hyperrationalism and the Truth of mathematics, they will forever flounder in the foggy, murky thinking of materialism and empiricism. But I digress.

Combining the first premise (all is math) with the second premise (mathematics has only one philosophy in which to understand it: hyperrationalism) brings us to what “The God Series” is truly all about: Ontological Mathematics. Ontological mathematics is the study of the ontology and epistemology of True mathematics, i.e. the study of how mathematics manifests itself as reality. Ontological mathematics is the True science of the universe and it is the only way for us humans to understand the universe and our place within it; this is what “The God Series” is all about.

First, "The God Series" shows us the ontological mathematical Truth of the cosmos, then it shows us how to redesign our society so that it perfectly reflects this cosmic ontological mathematical Truth. This is why “The God Series” spans many titles; these books are showing us how to revalue every single value of our world in terms of hyperrationalism and, if that value is found wanting, these books show us how to demolish it and reconstruct it in a hyperrational manner.

So, you can see that, in the end, these books are written for radicals with two burning desires: 1) the desire to once and for all understand the Truth of the universe and our place within it, and 2) the desire to change our section of the universe (i.e. Earth) into a perfect reflection of this universal Truth so that everyone can live in harmony. In other words, these books are written for serious people with serious desires and serious plans to effectuate those desires. If you aren’t a serious person then you should move along, these books aren’t for you. If, on the other hand, you do consider yourself a serious person who would like to contribute to the sacred cause of creating a better world for all, then “The God Series” might just be the books for you. Just understand that if these are the books for you, then your life will never be the same again.

If what I wrote above spikes your interest at all, then you should pick up your first book in “The God Series” today. You could very well start with any of them. The authors of these books are masters of ontological mathematics/hyperrationalism, and they do an excellent job in each and every book of catching the reader up to speed with the information taught in previous books. In my opinion though, I think you would be best served if you were to begin with the first book in “The God Series” titled “The God Game”. After “The God Game”, simply proceed by reading each subsequent book in the series. I think that reading the books in this manner will give you the best chance at being able to get a grasp on the entirely unique material presented in each book.

To supplement your understanding of “The God Series”, you should also give very high consideration to reading the works by Adam Weishaupt and Michael Faust. These books are written by the same authors as “The God Series” and they are all profound. Each and every book in the various book series written by Weishaupt and Faust will help you with your understanding of “The God Series”. Another avenue to supplement your studies of “The God Series” would be to check out the website: armageddonconspiracy.co.uk. This site is also entirely written by the authors of “The God Series” and it will expand your mind in ways you never thought possible. These are all ways a serious person could get started with their studies in ontological mathematics.

As you read and absorb these books I can guarantee that you’re going to want to reignite your study of mathematics. You could go about your mathematics studies any way you see fit but to me, there is no better way for an autodidact to continue their mathematics studies than to check out the website: khanacademy.org. This site is a completely free educational site and I could (and should) write a whole essay on how amazingly cool it is. Khan Academy needs to have the support of all rational people and it will repay that support with some of the best mathematics lectures I have ever seen. These lectures, and the exercises related to them, will take you all the way from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus.

As you can see, these books are entirely unique, you won’t find the information contained within them anywhere else. The bottom line is that this world is running out of time. Human irrationality has gotten completely out of control--the inmates truly are running the asylum. Rational people everywhere need to wake up, get angry, and join in the fight against irrationality. To begin, they need to read “The God Series”. “The God Series” is the hyperrationalist's blueprint for changing the world. It puts all rational people on the same page as to what our main objectives are. So, if you’re a rational and serious person, pick up your first book in “The God Series” today, become a Pythagorean Illuminist, and join the only war that matters: The war against the machines.

excellent contrast of mathematicist rationalist idealism over empiricist materialism in the best modern philosophy series

This is the best (along with his others and those of the two associated writers) introductory modern series on rationalist idealism in Classical Greek & Cartesian & German Idealist philosophy & postmodernism, including Pythagoreanism/Illumination, Platonism, Hermetism, Gnosticism, Leibnizianism, Hegelianism, formal & natural & social science, religion, and the arts, in this case such as mathematics/mathematicism, a contrast of an idealist/'ghost' viewpoint and the materialist/machine viewpoint, and more in-depth philosophy analysis. This is the best series that explains reality more clearly than anything else.

Outstanding text for practitioners and academics alike

This book provides the reader with a comprehensive text on interconnection networks. Dally and Towles provide a thorough treatment of the impact of system packaging, topology, and routing algorithms on the overall system performance. Numerous examples of systems from both industry (Cray, SGI) and academia (MIT J-Machine) are provided to illustrate the concepts in practice. Every computer architect should own this book, whether they are doing on-chip networks, IP routers, network processors, or large-scale supercomputers.

only presents very simple cases, not always sound in fundamentals

I had high expectations for this book given the table of contents. In particular, I was interested in chapters on arbitration, flow control, live lock and dead lock. These are topics that I have not seen comprehensive coverage on elsewhere. What I found was that most of the text is spent on describing very simple cases, in a wordy manner that actually makes the easy cases harder to understand. The book stops as soon as there is the least bit of complexity. This is very disappointing as it doesn't even mention the limited cases that I'm aware of. It certainly falls very short of providing a comprehensive survey of known complexities in these subjects.

On the topic of flow control, I was appalled to see it described as a way to utilize existing buffer resources as if the number of buffers are decided ahead of time, independent of flow control when the number of buffers are actually an integral part of flow control decisions. I was further shocked to see diagrams that only show one node in explaining flow control when flow control is fundamentally about communication between two nodes. Zooming in on one of the two nodes is really missing the basics of flow control.

As a result, I cannot recommend this book.

This book is the "Hennessy & Patterson" for interconnection networks area. The book covers almost all aspects of theoritical and practical issues involved in designing interconnection networks. The concepts are presented in very simple fashion. A very well written exahaustive text. Must read for any computer architect!

Mr. Bertauski's generousity in sharing his wealth of information is stunning. I've been working on landscape graphics, flying by the seat of my pants, for a few years now. Altho' I do have a background in fine arts & wasn't completely clueless, this book enabled me to hone in on the most effective graphic tools for the design. Got to use the book within days of receiving it. Most artists "steal" from each other; Bertauski kindly gives it away.

Excellent resource for landscape designers and landscape architects

This book should definitely be on the shelf of anyone who designs landscapes unless you have already mastered all there is to know about plan graphics. The first edition of this book was very good, but the second edition is even better. The only reason I gave it a raing of four stars rather than five is that it contains only a very brief section about color rendering, a topic that deserves much more attention than Bertauski gives it. But it's still a great book even with that imperfection.

Volume 1 covers state-of-art knowledge and techniques of fundamental aspects of hydrogel physics and chemistry with an eye on bioengineering applications. Topics include the types and chemistry of natural and synthetic hydrogels, hydrogels formation via photo-crosslink and self-assembly, the methods of tuning hydrogel mechanical properties and architecture, the techniques of tailoring hydrogel adhesiveness and biodegradability, and the development of environmental responsive hydrogels.

Volume 2 explores the use of hydrogels in the interdisciplinary field of tissue engineering, presenting the design and application of various types of hydrogels in engineering of tissues and organs, including the skin, eye, bone and cartilage, heart, blood vessels, lung, liver, pancreas and urological organs. The role of hydrogels in stem cell differentiation and creation of biological niches mimicking native tissues is also discussed.

Volume 3 focuses on two important aspects of hydrogels, that is, drug delivery and biosensing. For drug delivery, the authors present their work on synthetic, natural and supramolecular hydrogels. Injectable hydrogels and environment-responsive hydrogels are discussed in separate chapters due to their unique properties. For biosensing, topics including protein and cell laden hydrogels are discussed. Also included are biomolecular arrays patterning and cancer testing. in addition, as a special topic, the application of hydrogels in conjunction with microfluidic devices is discussed.

About the Author
Dr. Utkan Demirci is an Associate Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Palo Alto, CA. In his laboratory, he leads a productive group of ~30 researchers focusing on micro/nanoscale technologies to understand, diagnose, monitor, and treat disease conditions. Dr. Demirci has published over 110 peer-reviewed papers in journals. Before Stanford, he served as an Associate Professor of Medicine and Health Sciences and Technology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School (HMS) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Health Sciences and Technology (HST) division. He received his bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and both his master's degrees in Electrical Engineering in 2001 and in Management Science and Engineering in 2005, and his doctorate in Electrical Engineering in 2005 from Stanford University. Dr. Demirci has received various awards including the IEEE EMBS Early Career Award; IEEE EMBS Translational Science Award; NSF CAREER Award; Coulter Foundation Early Career Award; HMS-Young Investigator Award; and Chinese National Science Foundation International Young Scientist Award. In 2006, he was selected to TR-35 as one of the world's top 35 young innovators under the age of 35 by the MIT Technology Review.

Dr. Ali Khademhosseini is a Full Professor at Harvard-MIT's Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST), Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS) as well as an Associate Faculty at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. He is also a Junior Principal Investigator at Japan's World Premier International — Advanced Institute for Materials Research (WPI-AIMR) at Tohoku University where he directs a satellite laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in bioengineering from MIT (2005), and MASc (2001) and BASc (1999) degrees from University of Toronto both in chemical engineering. Dr. Khademhosseini's interdisciplinary research has been recognized by over 30 major national and international awards. He is the recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor given by the US government for early career investigators. In 2011, he received the Pioneers of Miniaturization Prize from the Royal Society of Chemistry for his contribution to microscale tissue engineering and microfluidics. In addition, he has received the young investigator awards of the Society for Biomaterials (SFB), the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society-Americas and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Tara Publishing, a commune of artists, writers and designers producing handmade books in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, have created a glowingly mysterious and charming volume that combines mythology from central India's Gond tribe with illustrations from three renowned Gond artists who will appear at museums in several U.S. cities this year. Hand screened onto black paper, the colorful, intricately detailed illustrations are almost psychedelic, in some ways reminiscent of Australian Aboriginal drawings. But the forms are recognizably Indian, and despite stylistic differences among the three artists, the pictures reveal a strong and unique Gond artistic tradition where animals, insects and humans merge with and emerge from the trees. There are magical stories about the protective spirits of the Sambar tree, and the serpent and root-entwined snake goddesses holding the earth together. But the practical uses of trees figure here as well: the wood of the thorny Nagphani tree is hard enough to use as a crowbar, and its sap heals sore eyes; the Ganja (marijuana) bush and the Mahua (alcohol) tree are said to be husband and wife. This mingling of the mythic, mundane and poetic gives an alluring glimpse into an integrative worldview that's in poignant contrast to the fragmented postmodern world. About the Author
Durga Bai is a young woman tribal artist from the Gond tradition of central India. Gond is a ritual and functional art style with distinctive decorative elements, mostly painted on walls of houses, using natural colours. Durga Bai constantly re-works and pushes the borders of the Gond art form to create art that sparkles with a distinctive energy. Bhajju Shyam, of the acclaimed The Night Life of Trees, is the finest living artist of the Gond tribe in India. Intricate and colourful, Bhajju's work is well-known throughout India and has been exhibited in the UK, Germany, Holland and Russia. From the walls of his tribal village home to international acclaim, Bhajju's has been an incredible creative journey. Ram Singh Urveti, an artist from central India, is one of the most brilliant living artists of the Gond tradition. Ram Singh's work has spread the myths and stories of the Gond community throughout Asia, Europe, Australia, and South America and has won him awards nationally and internationally. His work creates a world of fantasy and metamorphosis, coming alive with finely detailed organic forms.

An amazing book for art lovers...

I first saw this book at a local bookstore, which quickly sold out before I could get a copy. This book is a unique collection of the silkscreen prints of three separate artists from the same cultural tradition in India. Every image depicts a tree and is accompanied by a short myth about the creation or transformation of that tree. The art style is tribal, using intricate patterns of dots and lines. If you are a fan of tribal art styles and mythology, you will treasure this book for a long time to come. I would hesitate to recommend the book as a children's book for children under a certain age to more conservative parents, given references to suicide and drug use, in particular marijuana and alcohol.

On the whole, however, I found this to be an amazing and incredibly beautiful book. I look at it and read it often. The computer images do not do justice to the rich color and texture of the images.

Beautiful and unique.

This has got to be one of the most unique and unusual books I have ever owned. It brings together two of my favorite things: art and trees. Each page of art in this book is hand silk screened on heavy black paper. Once the pages are silk screened, they are bound together in a very appealing binding. The prints depict trees from India, along with a bit of the history and folk lore associated with each particular tree. This book is a numbered edition of only 2,000 copies. You can see how it was created by going to You Tube and typing in "tara books". Definitely a small scale, local operation. The artists are amazing. And the price is very inexpensive for a book of hand printed silk screened prints.

Pure delight

my new favourite thing in the world - this book is a treasure - a delight to hold, touch and be immersed in - be captivated by its stunning use of colour, gorgeous illustrations and poignant tales. I only bought this book because I read a review on Amazon - it was beyond my expectations. I show this book to all my close friends.
