Wow! as a Precision bass user all of my 35/40 years as a musician, this book came as a godsend! Even the forward by Carol Kaye is very interesting! Packed with information about Precisions from the earliest to modern Models working on them, dating them, keeping them maintained and more! thoroughly recommended for lovers of all things Fender bass!

A good "do it yourself" book

I have owned this book for awhile now, and it has been a big help to me.I have been playing bass now for about 22 years,and
there were still simple trouble shooting areas that I was having trouble figuring out.This book covers all of that and more!
I have learned simple set up jobs to fully re-adjusting the neck tension.So far I believe this book has saved me a ton of cash
on simple repairs.If you get this book, you won't believe how easy some of this really is.

This should come with your bass!

Finally a book that shows you how to really maintain your Fender Bass. Not only does it show you how to make adjustments or modifications yourself, but it helps you evaluate what needs to be done. This way you can figure out if something is actually wrong with your bass or if it just needs some tweaks. You can see what needs to be done and decide if it's something you can do yourself or if you should bring it to a professional. Just using this book as reference will keep your bass guitar in great playing shape. This is like a "missing manual", considering how expensive a good instrument is, the cost of this book is well worth it.

Essential Reference of Spanish-Colonial Coin Collectors

If you are interested in Spanish-Colonial coins and cobs, this book is essential. The book was published in 2002, which means prices are not current. However, it's the detailed descriptions, photos, and history of the coins that makes it so valuable. Even Krauses most recent coin books don't have current prices. And unlike Krauses other guides, this one covers all dates for all coins, up until approximately the date each country gained it's independence from Spain.

No Philippine coins

Contrary to what is stated in the editorial review, this catalog does not include Philippine coins during the spanish colonial period. In fairness to the authors it is stated in the foreword that this catalog deals with Ibero-American coinage. Aside from that omission, this book is worth buying in the sense that if all you collect is Spanish/Portugese Colonial Coins you won't have to buy the Other Standard Catalogs that are divided into centuries as this catalog spans the entire timeline.

Needs an update, improved photography and a new printer

647 pages of dated information. The book is formatted much like the Red Book. Published in 2002, it's pricing would be as valuable as a 2002 Red Book, i.e. not very useful in a 2013/14 market. The quality of print is significantly substandard and many of the photographs are of poor quality. This may be due to limited availability of high quality photographs, but is an area that needs work. I am a neophyte researcher in this arena, but it does appear that a significant amount of the information is inaccurate, particular mintage numbers. If Krause could update the book to reflect the current market, improve the photography and find a decent printer the tome would be of much greater value.

does senia have any backbone?

I was disappointed because the heroine of this book seemed to just lay back and let her family contradict what she done. Finally toward the end she grew some "lady balls" and slapped her brother. (Should have happened way earlier) this story line didn't keep me interested enough to purchase the 3rd book. It's in my wish list in case I just have nothing else to read.... But y'all know how that goes. Always something else to read! :)

I hate these mini novels. This book was not as good as the first one. Again we are left with a huge cliffhanger, only this time I will not take the bait. After reading the reviews for book three and finding out that there is yet another book coming, I have decided I am DONE!!

THE RACY RIDE CONTINUES

As the next big race approaches, the cat is let out of the bag when photos are sent to Enzo's phone right before the big race. What happens next brings the whole story out in the open. Siena is torn between Her love of family and the strong pull she feels about Harrison. Harrison wins out when Siena follows him to London for some R and R, mostly hot sex. Then the love fest comes to a head when Siena opens the door to get the newspaper and is bombarded with flash bulbs in her face, BUSTED!!!!!! Now on to Book 3.

84, Charing Cross Road is a charming record of bibliophilia, cultural difference, and imaginative sympathy. For 20 years, an outspoken New York writer and a rather more restrained London bookseller carried on an increasingly touching correspondence. In her first letter to Marks & Co., Helene Hanff encloses a wish list, but warns, "The phrase 'antiquarian booksellers' scares me somewhat, as I equate 'antique' with expensive." Twenty days later, on October 25, 1949, a correspondent identified only as FPD let Hanff know that works by Hazlitt and Robert Louis Stevenson would be coming under separate cover. When they arrive, Hanff is ecstatic--but unsure she'll ever conquer "bilingual arithmetic." By early December 1949, Hanff is suddenly worried that the six-pound ham she's sent off to augment British rations will arrive in a kosher office. But only when FPD turns out to have an actual name, Frank Doel, does the real fun begin.

Two years later, Hanff is outraged that Marks & Co. has dared to send an abridged Pepys diary. "i enclose two limp singles, i will make do with this thing till you find me a real Pepys. THEN i will rip up this ersatz book, page by page, AND WRAP THINGS IN IT." Nonetheless, her postscript asks whether they want fresh or powdered eggs for Christmas. Soon they're sharing news of Frank's family and Hanff's career. No doubt their letters would have continued, but in 1969, the firm's secretary informed her that Frank Doel had died. In the collection's penultimate entry, Helene Hanff urges a tourist friend, "If you happen to pass by 84, Charing Cross Road, kiss it for me. I owe it so much."

Reading Another Person's Mail Was Never So Delightful

Helene Hanff was a New York writer and Frank Doel was a London bookseller. This book chronicles the letters they wrote over a period of many years to one another. Although they never met, they became true friends bonded by their love of literature.
Having read this tiny little gem, I can tell you that I'm not even sure why I liked it so much. Maybe it was because I loved seeing a warm friendship develop between two total strangers. Maybe it was because I loved the dry wit of Helene and the staunch Britishness of Frank. Maybe it was because I liked hearing about the WWII years, how the people of Britain sacrificed, and how one caring American woman made a difference to this small group of Britishers.
One note: this is the only book I have ever read that is truly enhanced by the video. Read the book, then rent the movie. Anne Bancroft is the perfect Helene and Anthony Hopkins is brilliant as Frank.

A Joy to Treasure

I waited too long to finally read 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff and I have no reasonable excuse for it. Someone had lent me a copy and it was the only book in my backpack on the commute to work one morning as I had forgotten to bring the book I was reading, so I started it and had one of the best journeys of my life. I immediately ran out and bought my own copy as I knew that I would read this book over and over again. It is very funny and, in the end, quite touching in ways that all readers will understand and appreciate. The best endorsement of this book is that it will get one to investigate all sorts of old classics and look at reading and writing in new and different ways. I personally will be letting used books fall open just to see what interested a reader from the past and what he or she is trying to tell me. I little trick gratefully picked up from the delightful Helene Hanff.

Beautiful, with a heart-rending and tragic moral

This is the story of an American writer (the author of the book) who strikes up a friendship by mail with a bookseller in England. The entire book is a series of unedited and un-commented-on letters exchanged between Hanff and the Marks & Co. booksellers at 84 Charing Cross Road. Her primary pen pal is a man named Frank Doel, with whom she shares a love of old books. [Perhaps this is the point where I should say that I flatly disagree, without reservation, with the previous reviewers who believe there was a potential romantic attachment between the two of them.]
The correspondence runs from 1949 until 1969, during which time Helene and the people at 84 Charing Cross Road exchange Christmas gifts and news of their families, but never meet. At least in the early years of the correspondence, almost every year Ms. Hanff states her intention to come over to visit England, but something always comes up to prevent the trip.
In 1969, one of Hanff's letters to Frank Doel is answered by another member of the firm, informing her that Frank Doel has died.
This is a beautiful book, which can be read in 45 minutes. I suppose every reader will take his or her own lessons from the book, but here is mine: If there is something you really want to do in your life, then DO IT when the opportunity arises. Time is finite. If you keep saying, "Maybe next year," there will eventually come a time when there IS no next year. It is a painful tragedy that Helene Hanff never got to England to meet Frank Doer and the other people at Marks & Company, and that poignant sadness is what stayed with me after I had closed the book.

it's my favorite. The characters are well developed and interesting

EVERYONE should listen to Cabin Pressure, it's my favorite.

The characters are well developed and interesting, and each show's plot is different but there are overarching themes as well.

I have listened to the whole series (27 episodes) probably a dozen times over the last 2.5 years and it still makes me laugh out loud.

As director of RCA's Elvis catalogue, Jorgensen is one of the key figures behind the Elvis Presley CD box sets RCA has issued in recent years. This book makes a worthy companion to those historic releases. All of the King's known recordings?including rehearsals, live recordings and recordings made in the privacy of his hotel rooms?are approached with the same reverence that his studio sessions inspire, providing a framework for a narrative of Elvis's life. Indeed, eminent Presley biographer Guralnik (Last Train to Memphis) writes that, given Jorgensen's attention to detail, the author is "either a madman or a great detective." While so many Presley books are written by authors who never seem to overcome their poetic sense of awe regarding the King, Jorgensen, being an RCA executive, couches the story of Presley's life in the gritty details of the artist's work and gets past the myths, giving readers a glimpse of what it might have been like to be Elvis. THE book to read if you are a lover of Elvis' music

At last a book not about the women Elvis had, the Memphis Mafia, the Colonel, No, this book is about the man and what he was after all most famous for - his wonderful music. This book is painstakingly researched, with enormous attention to detail and beautifully put together with many great pictures that I had never seen before. Jorgensen really did his homework on this and his admiration for Elvis comes through in his writing.

It is great to see who played what at every recording session and how Elvis felt about his music - a great perfectionist who was totally frustrated about many of the inferior songs he had to sing in the even more inferior films he later had to make. When you read how many takes on songs he did in the studio to get things just right, you just wonder how his wonderful voice held out all those years, especially as he, after exhausting recording sessions lasting hours, would sing gospel songs throughout the night as well. Yes, Elvis was truly an "Olympic Champion of Singing" as someone once put it. A jewel of a book for any true Elvis fan and full marks to Jorgensen.

If you're interested in the MUSIC Elivs made, this is THE book for you! Complete session info, with a running timeline (it is a narrative, not just a sessions listing...) and relevant pictures to the period, you'd be hard pressed to find a more thorough document. After seeing book after book about: his upbringing, his girlfriends, his diet, whatever; this was the book I was looking for!

The Elvis Music Bible

This is a catalog of ALL of the songs that Elvis ever recorded. Some of the of the other reviewers wrote that it is JUST about the music. But, in fact, there is a lot of commentary about things that were going on in Elvis' life during the recordings, too. So, this is a great chronology of his personal life that went along with the recordings. This is somewhat unique for books about Elvis, because while you read that this happened or that happened, it is hard to put it all on timeline. The bonus with this book is that there are a whole string of new people that you learn about, because you hear about the record company staff, the recording artists, and other people related to the production of his albums and even his movies. But, on top of everything, the music is ALL here!
