Cute graphics and good prayers help me teach my son how to pray

What I love about this is that I can use it to teach my child to pray. Each spread in the book features a prayer for a specific thing. And it helps me teach my child that prayer isn't just for food or sleeping or for family. Kids can learn that you can also pray for your friends, for school, for animals -- and that it can be about a lot of things like protection, forgiveness, blessing, help, and more! Plus it helps that the graphics are so cute!

Great Prayer Book

I have found that children's prayer books can be excellent resources for teaching children about prayer. The Precious Moments Little Book of Prayers from Tommy Nelson is one such resource. Full of prayers that are just right for children, from prayers about animals to forgiveness, the Little Book of Prayers has some great examples and ideas. We use the prayers in this book as prompts. We read a prayer, and then I encourage my oldest to think of other things to pray for that relate to that prayer. I try to help her understand that we can talk to Yeshua (Jesus) about anything, from itchy mosquito bites to her desire for a puppy.

I like that the Little Book of Prayers is a sturdy board book that my youngest can enjoy too. The prayers are presented through simple rhymes, making them easy to remember. The classic Precious Moments illustrations remind me of my own childhood memories, which makes the book all the more of a treasure. From morning until evening your precious ones will fall in love with this Little Book of Prayers.

This Little Book of Prayers is an excellent board book for infants to toddlers. The Precious Moments illustrations complement the 18 different prayers offered for little ones to grow in their understanding of God, specific prayer, interacting well with others, and offering daily blessings. The illustrations feature multicultural children in a variety of settings including: God Knows Me (based on Psalm 139) with children at a birthday party; Lord, Keep Me Safe (Psalm 36:7) with 3 toddlers in a barrel sail boat; and A Prayer for the Animals (Job 12:10) which reflects tenderness as children discover the joy and responsibility of caring for the unique creatures they are discovering.

Children can learn these prayers through repetition or hand motions as they commit them to memory and treasure them in their hearts. Procuring Criminal Justice

John Suthers named his book about the job of a public prosecutor "No Higher Calling, No Greater Responsibility". He may probably be right. That brings into focus the people whose job it is to prosecute crimes. The responsibility and demands of the job requires utmost skill and professionalism in those who are charged with the job. John Bugliosi was an experienced prosecutor when he wrote "The Art of Prosecution". One way in which we can tell if it was a good book is to see if the tone of the book provides an immediate impact. practising one of the methods he preached, Bugliosi's writing style was clear, crisp and without hype. It was clinical, instructional, and inspiring.

It was appropriate that he began by describing the tools that a prosecutor needs for the job, and he describes and explains the qualities needed to be a good prosecutor. He helps inexperience prosecutors in knowing what and how to prepare a case for trial, examples of court room techniques were carefully and aptly chosen. He has a chapter on the 'voir dire", a mini-trial within the trial to determine the admissibility of disputed evidence.

I found his advice on the opening address and closing summation to be wonderfully written. These are the two aspects of a trial that a prosecutor (and defence lawyer) must grasp because everything else that happens in the trial, as Bugliosi explains, depend on how the prosecutor opens and closes his case. This book was written for the jury trial so in the bulk of cases in which the new prosecutor is likely to take to trial are likely to be before a professional and experienced judge sitting without jury. Some of the techniques recommended might not be appropriate without some adjustments. His advice to appeal to the juror's common sense, emotion, and morality, for example, may have to be toned down when a lawyer is addressing a judge less the submission becomes patronising and pedantic; which is a sure way of annoying the judge.

Finally - a book for prosecutors

This is like a how to guide to prove a case. As a prosecutor, this book is a fantastic a resource for advice on case preparation/caseload management.

But in my opinion, where it really shines is teaching trial advocacy for ASA's/ADA's. No longer do you need to scour Trial Ad books -filled with advice for defense attorneys and civil litigators - for a nugget of prosecutorial guidance. This book goes through jury selection to summation giving techniques and examples that are tremendously helpful if you're willing to put the time in. This is a book that you can study for hours at a time, and while it can be dry at times, it's well worth it. I've personally used some of Bugliosi's techniques in trial with great success. This is really the best around if you want to learn how to prove your case and beat the defense.

Should be titled "The Prosecutor's Manuel"

As a 3rd year assistant prosecutor who works in an office with next to no guidance, this book has become my manual. After using The Art of Prosecution to win my 1st jury trial, I purchased a copy for 3 other APs! It's the prosecutor's version of Thomas Mauet's Trial Advocacy.

A unique effort...

Potential energy surfaces are instrumental in all aspects of nanoscale phenomena and they are well suited to be treated as a unifying theme for the study of chemical physics. In this respect, this book is unique... The topics it tackles, while interest to many researchers in manifold fields, have never been distilled into a single volume. And this first effort deserves kudos.

Each chapter(there are 10 chapters in the whole book)is supported with an exhaustive list of references and is reasonably self contained. Moreover, there is an immediate sense of coherence and the topical flow is rather well laid out. However, it is not a textbook with all that it implies. Wales provides a updated (as of the time of his writing (2003)) account of various topics, but none of them are treated assuming a classroom style. However, the reader is referred to the pertinent literature with valuable remarks as to what is to be found in which particular reference. The proofs to the equations are largely avoided but their origin and the physical implications are given a fair treatment. The required
mathematical background to follow the text is rather modest, while the wide spectrum of topics covered curbs its potential as a real page turner for the novice.

The illustrations are abound and in color which is a definitive plus. The binding and the paper quality is first class. The typeface is Donald Knuth`s Computer Modern with 11/14pt letter size, and this genuinely alleviates the reading process. My only quibble is the uneven quality of the images permeating the text as some of them have been culled from different sources.

I think the book serves its purpose very well and it is a good introductory exposition to a subject with utmost importance in nanoscience. I highly recommend it to anyone whose work involves materials science, chemisty or physics.

Can't get enough

Wales must have cloned himself multiple times in order to have found time to have written such a comprehensive book. I'll leave the science for people smarter than I to judge, but I'm giving it 5 stars based on its visual impact alone. I just can't get enough of his beautifully created graphics of undulating potential energy surfaces and cluster rearangement pathways (to name but two examples). Wales is showing us the elegance of his chosen field- and in a way that's simple enough for us dullards to appreciate. I wonder if he's considered a second career in designing topologically interesting furniture, upholstered in only the finest convex polyhedra. This book will no doubt become required reading for those in the molecular simulation community and will be especially ideal for those starting out on their phd's.
Minor points: A cursory read has shown a few typographical errors, which should be corrected in future editions. I also found the references at the end of chapters a little unwieldy. It would also have been nice for Wales to have included a bibliography of recommended texts that could be used to take some of the ideas further.

Should rational consider­ ations lead to an increase in the importance of this cereal, I, for one, would be glad since I believe the rural landscape is the poorer for the increased rarity of golden fields of rippling oats which I used to be involved in harvesting.
